Tanzania's vast wilderness offers a multitude of adventures, and our seven-day Kifaru Safari tour is the best way to discover it all for yourself. Starting in Arusha, this carefully-planned itinerary allows you to explore some of Tanzania's most exciting places.
Get ready for an unforgettable journey, as you travel across picturesque landscapes, including Masai Steppe, Lake Manyara National Park and Serengeti National Park. You’ll embark on epic game drives in search of amazing animals, including the ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. And you’ll get the chance to explore the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world's most astonishing natural wonders.
There are a number of optional experiences, too. You could enjoy an exhilarating hot-air balloon ride over Serengeti National Park, to admire Mother Nature’s handiwork from above. No-matter what you decide, this wonderful week-long Tanzania tour is sure to be memorable.
Your journey begins in Arusha. You'll be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport, then take a transfer to Arusha Serena Hotel. On the shores of Lake Duluti, you'll be surrounded by woodlands – the perfect place to start your Tanzanian adventure. You can spend the rest of the day however you wish. Why not freshen up after your flight, then explore Arusha city centre?

You can have a relaxing morning with a safari briefing and lunch, before you leave Arusha behind. You'll drive towards Maasai Steppe, where you'll see charming villages and plantations of coffee, maize and banana. When you reach the town of Makuyuni, you'll journey along the beautiful escarpment, before raching your safari lodge in Lake Manyara National Park.

Feast on breakfast, then set off on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, where you can see hippos, zebra, flamingos and more. After a short stop back at the lodge for lunch, you'll head through the highlands and breath-taking hilly countryside. You'll then pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – which you'll come back to later in the tour – and on to the Serengeti. Look out for wildlife on the way to your lodge, then enjoy a laidback dinner before bed.

After a hearty breakfast, you'll enjoy a day of adrenaline-filled game drives at Serengeti National Park. You'll have the chance to see the 'Big Five' on the Serengeti plains, as well as cheetah, giraffes and zebra. For a change of scene, opt for a hot-air balloon ride. A bird's-eye view of the glorious landscape and wildlife is a truly unbelievable experience.

Set off with a picnic lunch to Ngorongoro Crater. As the world's largest intact volcanic crater, it's the ultimate stadium for wildlife-watching. After an epic safari, you'll stay overnight at a lodge right on the rim of the crater, where you can look forward to spectacular views.

After breakfast, you'll descend 2,000 feet through the morning mist into the depths of the Ngorongoro Crater. Search for the 'Big Five', then enjoy a delicious picnic in the crater, keeping your eyes peeled for unique wildlife. After an exciting day, you'll return to your lodge late-afternoon to relax and have dinner.

Enjoy a tasty breakfast on your last day in Tanzania, before heading back towards Arusha. You'll travel past Lake Manyara and the Karatu, where you'll be able to see coffee and wheat plantations. You'll also see charming villages along the way, as you make your way back towards Masai Steppe.
Your African adventure draws to a close once you arrive in Arusha. You'll take a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you'll catch your flight home.

Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15 kgs per person (including hand luggage). Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in or may be left behind at the pilot’s discretion.

Travellers’ cheques are not accepted. US Bank notes older than 2012 or notes that do not have the latest security measures (large portraits) are not accepted.

Due to limited luggage space in vehicles, suitcases are unsuitable for safaris. We recommend luggage packed in inexpensive barrel/sausage bags or soft-sided bag, which doesn't exceed 15kgs.
Excess luggage can be handed over at the beginning, if needed, and stored in Nairobi. There will be an additional charge of USD 40 per booking for excess luggage, until you return to Nairobi. This service can be pre-booked in advance, or sorted on the day.
