Journey into Tanzania today arriving into the picturesque town of Arusha in the afternoon. Explore the towns bustling markets before relaxing overnight in a hotel.
Overnight in Outpost Lodge (or similar)
Departing Arusha you will visit the local village of Mto wa Mbu and take part in a cultural walk where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the daily life and traditions of the people that live here. With over 18,000 residents from 120 different tribes this village has a local market and shops with artisans showing their wares. Go to the farmers fields and see how huts are constructed before enjoying a lunch of meat and plantains with your new friends.
This afternoon travel onwards through the cool forests of Lake Manyara National Park with the backdrop of the western wall of the Rift Valley escarpment. On the way look out for tree-climbing lions, elephants, giraffes and hippos.
Overnight in Twiga Campsite
Driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area you will now journey to the iconic Serengeti National Park. En route look out across the savannah in search of some of the huge array of wildlife which call this area home. One of the largest and most densely populated with wildlife the Serengeti is the vision most people have when they think of African safari.
Spot buffalo, elephant, lions, zebras and more as you traverse the plains in your pop-top safari vehicle. You will also have the option to book a hot air balloon safari for that extra special experience.
Overnight in Seronera Campsite
Take an early morning safari drive as you depart the Serengeti, continuing your wildlife viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater, getting a spectacular view of the crater from your campsite on the rim.
An eco-system in its own right, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a resident population of more than 20,000-25,000 large mammals. The swamps and forests are home to hippos, rhinos, elephants, baboons and monkeys, with lions and leopards often spotted moving across the crater floor.
Overnight in Simba Campsite
Visit an authentic Maasai village and the G Adventures-supported Clean Cookstove Project this morning.
In Tanzania, 95% of people rely on cooking with wood and coal. Women and girls spend hours walking to collect wood every day making them vulnerable and leading them to miss out on their education. Take a guided tour of these villages and meet the women that have been trained as stove engineers. Help the stove team build a stove in a traditional home and witness first-hand the benefits of the clean-burning stoves on the health and daily lives of the Maasai villagers.
This afternoon return to to Arusha for a two night stay.
Overnight in Outpost Lodge
Depart mainland Tanzania today and fly to the beautiful island of Zanzibar. Enjoy lunch before taking an orientation walk through historic Stone Town with your guide.
Afterwards head off to explore on your own, or alternatively join a longer tour of this fascinating city and visit the Old Slave Market, House of Wonders and Palace Museum.

Now you get to relax and enjoy the island of Zanzibar!
Visit a local spice plantation for a guided tour and learn about a range of spices, from cloves and cardamon, to cinnamon and vanilla. Learn about the uses of these different spices and how the plantations brought the beginnings of the slave trade to the island.
Now head to the beach for the remainder of your stay.
