Overview

Explore Northern Tanzania on this eight-day luxury tour, taking you to some of the most awe-inspiring areas of this popular East Africa country. Designed to maximise your time on safari this trip takes you from destination to destination by executive aircraft, reducing travel time and allowing you to immerse yourself fully in this epic wilderness.

In Arusha enjoy the oasis of calm that is the Arusha Coffee Lodge before heading to three unique wildlife areas. Tarangire National Park is famed for its enormous elephant population, one of the largest in East Africa, and its quieter, less crowded safari experience. Ngorongoro Crater is next, this large volcanic caldera offers one of the most densely populated regions for wildlife and is sure to blow you away. Last, but not least, the Serengeti with its iconic landscapes completes your trip in style.

With elegant luxury lodges and an epic fly-in experience Elewana showcases the best Tanzania has to offer on this eight day adventure in East Africa.

Day 1

Arusha

Arriving into Kilimanjaro Airport you will be fast tracked through the airport and taken to your hotel in Arusha.

Set within the grounds of a working coffee plantation the hotel offers bean-to-cup coffee tours as well as an on-site Traders Walk, where guests can browse African arts and artefacts. Relax by the pool or rejuvenate in the spa after your long flight and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast take a tour of the coffee estate and find out about the social enterprise located here. Shanga employs people with disabilities to create handmade products by sewing, painting, weaving and glass-blowing that they can then sell on-site.

After a delicious lunch on the lawn you will board your first SkySafari flight to Tarangire National Park. Often overlooked for the more popular northern parks Tarangire offers an abundance of wildlife in a crowd-free environment. Elephants are Tarangire's speciality and you can be on the lookout for these gentle giants as soons as you approach the landing strip.

Suites at Tarangire Treetops are located in the branches of baobab and marula trees, each with a huge balcony.

Day 3

Tarangire National Park

Start your day with an early morning drive in a custom-designed jeep, looking out for zebra, buffalo, lion and leopard.

Because the lodge is located in a conservancy a large range of activities can be enjoyed here as well as guest having access to the wildlife in the park. After lunch head out with a Masai guide for a safari on foot, get up close to the flora and fauna and searching for animal tracks or visit a local village to learn more about the local Maasai.

As the day cools enjoy a sundowner on Sunset Hill before having a delicious dinner. Night drives are also available and give an opportunity to find the more elusive nocturnal animals, such as leopard and porcupine.

Your scenic flight will take you to Manyara airstrip before a relaxing drive through the highlands to your hotel for the next two nights. The Manor at Ngorongoro boasts a handful of Cape Dutch style cottages sat within the lush gardens of a working coffee farm, near the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater.

You will arrive in time for high tea, which you can take while enjoying views across the forest. This evening relax by the cosy fire or enjoy a soak in your Victorian bathtub before joining your fellow guest for a delicious dinner.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Its an early start today as you head down into the Ngorongoro Crater. This natural phenomenon, over 20km wide and 600m deep, is the worlds largest natural caldera and home to one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa.

With over 30,000 animals contained in this relatively small area safaris here are busy and exciting. Travelling with an experienced guide you will traverse through acacia thickets, forests and around glittering lakes, looking out for lions, elephants and buffalo, as well as hyena, black rhino and cheetah. The Manor at Ngorongoro also has special permission for bush lunches to be served in a private part of the crater. An exclusive experience, away from the crowds.

Day 6

Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park

After your final breakfast at the Manor you will be whisked off to one of the highlights of any Tanzanian safari, the Serengeti National Park.

This enormous park feels endless, with the vast plains offering the quintessential African safari experience. The Serengeti is renowned for its outstanding wildlife experiences, as well as the rich Maasai culture and stunning landscapes. You will enjoy a game drive on the way to camp, arriving just in time for lunch.

Depending on the time of year you will stay at either Pioneer Camp, located on a Kopje in the southern part of the park or Migration Camp, offering stilted tents in the quieter, northern Serengeti. The camps are chosen due to the movement of animal populations and designed to give the best experience, particularly during the migration where herds of wildebeest move through the park bringing a whole host of predators to the area.

After a final sundowner you will enjoy a delicious dinner back at the camp listening out for the calls of the hyena and snorts of the hippos as you relax on the deck.
